
Bahamas
These Islands are really part of the Atlantic, but because of their blue green water and beautiful beaches most think of them as Caribbean. The waters around these islands are a favorite of saltwater fly fishermen in search of bonefish. Big game fishing await you as well. See the chart below before booking your charter.
Barbados
Year-round fishing is to be had on this island, but the most ideal conditions exist from January to April. Deep-sea fisherman will find plenty of billfish, while the calmer coastal waters will yield wahoo, barracuda, and other small fish.
Cayman Islands
The Cayman Islands attract deep-sea fisherman in search of tuna, wahoo, and marlin. Others choose to bottom-fish along the reefs for grouper and snapper. Bloody Bay off Little Cayman is well known for its good bonefishing.
Dominican Republic
This island attracts fishermen after sailfish and bonito as well as marlin and Wahoo. The best fishing is between January and June. The South Coast hosts fish like Wahoo, Sailfish, Marlin, Porpoise and Barracuda. The North Coast hosts fish like Wahoo, King Mackerel, Dorado and Tuna. Deep-sea fishing is also available from the East Coast tourism destinations of Punta Cana and Bavaro.
The Deep Ocean blue of this area is a striking contrast from the turquoise of the crystal clear shallows, and its that change of depth, coupled with the ebb and flow of the largest of the passages between the Atlantic and the Caribbean, that provides a very rich habitat for the big game fish.
Martinique
The southernmost of the FWI, Martinique is part of the Lesser Antilles, with only 24 miles separating it from St. Lucia, yet another burgeoning billfish hot spot. Martinique has long been the main bastion of French style in the Caribbean.
Most fishing is done with lures, and blue marlin are caught regularly between September and November. Action at this time should provide several shots a day, along with regular catches of wahoo and dolphin. Late in the season, sailfish provide a bonus catch. Although the marlin average 200 pounds, bigger fish do swim these waters (the island record stands at 649 pounds).
Puerto Rico
Some 30 world records have been set here earning Puerto Rico a reputation as the fishing capital of the Caribbean.
Puerto Rico where depths reach over 1000 ft only 1.5 miles from shore and deep water and big fish is a great combination. Take a shot at Blue and White Marlin or Mahi-Mahi and Wahoo.
St. Maarten / St. Martin
The island of two countries with the French and the Dutch both laying claim to this beautiful spot in the Caribbean. St. Maarten offers such a variety of fish and fishing areas that something is always biting! Sailfish Marlin Wahoo Tuna and Dolphin are just a few of the great fish available.
Trinidad and Tobago
Trinidad and Tobago's Offshore Fishing Season begins in October and runs right through to June.
During this time, anglers can catch some of the world's most sought after game fish, such as: Blue and White Marlin, Swordfish, Sailfish, Dolphin, Tuna and Wahoo.
Trinidad and Tobago's Inshore or Coastal Fishing is excellent throughout the year. Anglers can look forward to catching: Tarpon, Bonefish, Permit and Snook.
Turks and Caicos Islands
Surrounding most of the Turks and Caicos Islands and especially South Caicos is a fertile fishing ground. there are plenty of opportunities to take a fishing charter and pick your favorite type of fishing.
Reef and bottom fishing for conch, snapper and grouper is the most common. Bonefish are found in the shallower waters in the flats and sailofish and white marlin can be caught November to April and Atlantic marlin and barracuda can be caught year round. Look for yellow and black fin tuna as well as wahoo in the summer.
Virgin Islands
Both the British and U.S. Virgin Islands have a reputation as good deep-fishing grounds. Fisherman from around the world come here to compete in the local tournaments for the largest bluefish, wahoo, swordfish, and shark. The U.S. Virgin Islands have seen world records registered including eight for blue marlin. Bonefishing is also popular. The best fishing off St. Croix is from September to June when fishermen seek out kingfish, wahoo, swordfish, marlin, and yellowfin tuna.
