I have to tell you, one of the hottest fishing experiences and some of the greatest and knowledgeable people I have ever run into was in La Paz with Jonathan at Tailhunter International. I had booked this trip through a friend that had fished with Jonathan many times before. I was not disappointed. We went catching and we caught everything and more, and we did it with light tackle and fly rods. There is something about a 15 to 25 lb Tuna on a medium flex pole, with spinning real and 20 lb test to get your blood moving or rooster fish 10 feet offshore with a fly rod. Now I know that if the fish don't cooperate fishing can be tough, but Jonathan and his captains are pros and if there is a fish to be caught they will not disappoint you. If they don't catch it at least they will scare the hell out of it. I should have known I was in for a great time when a passenger sitting on the plane we were boarding asked, "Are you guys fishing with Jonathan"? Before we could answer the guy behind us said, "He's the best" and another two rows over said, "If you're fishing La Paz you've got to fish with Jonathan". Dang, I was almost expecting the Captain or stewardess to come on the PA and do a commercial for Jonathan. If you want to fish the warm waters of Mexico, you've got to fish with Jonathan at Tailhunter International in La Paz. Give him my best. He definitely gave me his.

Kingfisher Charters is a second generation family owned enterprise and they treat you like Royalty. Some of the best King, silver and halibut fishing to be found. You haven't lived until you feast on the King Crab, Halibut cheeks in garlic butter or juicy steaks so thick you're looking for a chain saw. I have fished elsewhere in Alaska including the Kanai, but nothing has compared to what I found in Sitka. It's an old Russian fishing village with friendly people, beauty like the Alaska you see in magazines, great fishing and did I mention the food? Kingfisher and Sitka are a little bit pricier than other areas of Alaska, but it's easy to get to by air, the guide service is just like family and Sitka is downright beautiful. If you only plan to go to Alaska once; This is the place. World Class Halibut, Majestic King Salmon, Acrobatic Silver Salmon and Giant Lingcod and Rockfish are your target when you fish with Kingfisher Charters. The Halibut fishing near Sitka is consistently outstanding. All through the summer months, you can count on catching halibut which average 50-60 lb., with an occasional fish sometimes topping 300 pounds. Large halibut are common on Kingfisher boats with 1 or two fish over 100 lbs caught on a typical day.
